My question is would it be possible to play a member of the Highland Clan/The Crown's Mercenaries that is female?
Forgive me if I am a bit Scottish/Irish history 'nut' in every sense of the word and a fan of the games.
I am just curious if this will be allowed as it isn't common knowledge (as Scotland was viewed by most Englishmen as being a Nuisance) but did actually happen until the late 1700's or early 1800's (When they were freed of their 'Contract' and given land in the Caribbean as a way to get rid of the evidence and for England to hide and ignore what had been done.) After the first battle for their independence Scottish in (1356) families from the Highlands and the Midlands had signed a treaty with King Edward to provide for him... warriors. They were Family and very selective on who and what they were and their training.
More often than not these were highly educated and able to fit in to English Society; for the time they were a society onto themselves held apart from both the English Law and the Scottish with no member of the family being uneducated or misused. With those of course in the higher stature of the family as the one that the Crown would go to, meet with or send letters to. Every chore was often shared including tutoring those rising in age. They were housed in either Edinburgh Castle (Stirling Castle which was where their agreement was signed.) When it was used to house the king's Military force while he lived there or given vast amounts of land where they can 'Breed' good warriors for the King's Army who were chosen and taken to the castle as either personal guards or Mercenaries at the Kings behest. Most were 'related' and each considered the other a Brother and Blood and no larger in might than perhaps a Garrison within the castle/compound walls.
Scottish Families and 'warriors' are known to be both men and women for the women were taught to defend themselves even if they were being left 'home' and often they were distance archers with keen interest in long Bows and Short bows. They of course marry and over the course of a hundred to two hundred years of having to live and fight together do in fact all become related. Numbers dwindle and prior to 1560 (Witch hunts and Repression of Women) in Scotland women were more or less allowed to hold any job or office a man was especially if she had taken over the family business or been trained by a man or should the man not be there, having been called away.
In this time there were 'relations' between the English King and Scotland itself. Be it through The Crown's Mercenaries, Assassins(Not of the Creed) or Spies (Booth assassins and Spies were often female as men were more often than not loose lipped to), the King/Queen of England knew enough of what was happening.

Hey guest! This is a really good question, thanks for asking it.
I am unfortunately not as educated on this particular bit of history. I'll probably bug you about it sometime because it seems really interesting. My main concern is that we are playing in the year 1509. If that year corresponds with what you're looking to do, then I don't see why not. If it doesn't, then I would have to say no for that reason. Again, having little knowledge of these events myself, I'm mostly going to rely on your knowledge. From what I understand of what you typed, it did happen during the correct time period so you would be free to apply as a character of that type. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I actually really appreciate any character that can bring some authenticity to the game, so I hope this works out! :3
